The Modest Walnut

I am often asked why I chose Bruijn as the name of a brand that represents all things dried fruits, nuts and chocolates. The explanation accompanies a momentary revelation on a casual day. In the midst of ideating, I scooped up a handful of shelled walnuts and imbibed their beautiful curves, raw textures, woody scents and earthy flavours. But what struck me most were the warm hues of brown hidden in their multiple folds, each relating a different story of its journey from the modest walnut tree to my palms.

Bruijn simply means Brown in Dutch - a design aesthetic from which we derive much of our inspiration.
